Welcome 2019

Southern summer 2018-19 news letter

The madness of life continues amid the corporate struggle for power and global market dominance that is destroying our planetary ecosystem. Within this were are bound to these market forces working, taking opportunities to survive and raise families.

The new freedoms following WW2 have been subverted into a new liberalism in which everyone is right from which new personality cults have emerged and existing ones transformed. This new tribal culture is separative and manipulative, a replacement for the old morality that has died.

From time to time some folk have walked the streets advising the end is nigh, well we all know that be it old age, accident or today environmental or nuclear annihilation. So the question is how to we find freedom beyond what we call holidays to recover from the stresses of the daily grind to keep up let alone get ahead?

We can’t change the world other than planting trees and voting for sustainability nor can we make any individual conform to any behavioural ideals,¬† we can educate and encourage but force always backfires and causes more harm to the doer. Some argue that we are reaping our karma and blame our suffering on that or the system. To be sure the system make life difficult, it causes economic and social pain but suffering is a personal choice.

Happiness is a state of mind achieved by owning oneself, accepting one’s lot and dropping out, turning on and tuning in to your internal universe. We can’t stop the world from ending, we can’t always prevent pain, but we can find healing, enjoy pleasure helped by yoga and beyond that lies meditation which is the key to joy.

If life is getting you down or is a struggle and anyway, I do recommend the yogi’s guide to joy, a great read that all empower you to improve your conscious decision making and I’d also recommend the online inner-engineering program linked from the bottom of this page¬†

The Monday evening Kaiapoi yoga class has been discontinued. I passed it over to another teacher but I’ve since heard that she has given it up. There are said to be classes in Rangiora.

On a personal note, I’m available for informal yoga, meditation, massage lessons and talks on these subjects. Please get in touch if I can help in any way although the email is checked very irregularly, so phone 980 4646 for a quicker response.
