The Search for Truth

An eternal quest

hdusearWe all have a calling and a need to know what is this thing we call life and what drives us. But so many are distracted and instead turn their lives over to worldly desires.  Then blinded by beliefs, untruths and other blatant lies, life devolves into ever deeper suffering for which there must be someone to blame.

Everyone is born with a natural curiosity and a desire to excel, but for most, that instinctive drive is hijacked by the education system and the need to earn a living. So instead of getting to know life as it really is, the vast majority only get to know what substitutes for life.

As a consequence we are born into a generational suffering or karma from which we must break free. But unfortunately for many, this is impossible to overcome and they take the easy route of spiritual blindness and compulsive behaviour.

Where do we come from, why are we here, what is the universe?

Why I the reason, I wonder why?
But know there is no beginning, and know there is no end.

There is a famous experiment done whereby electrons are fired toward a object that has two parallel slits. Sometimes the electrons will go through one slit and sometimes another. There is no rhyme or reason for this that scientists can tell, but also the landing pattern of the electrons on the other side appears to be completely random.

But what has been learned recently is that those electrons when they are fired are carried in a wave or by a wave and that wave represents the karma of that particular electron. In our own lives we set out on a certain part and yet the journey and the destination sometimes seems to be completely random, but this effect is caused by our own karma.

Heaven and hell

Like the electron, we are bound by our own karma, but unlike the electron we can arrive at the realisation that we created our karma and because we created it, we can also free ourselves or un-create our karma.

We have so many questions and as we begin searching, new questions continue to arrive and yet like so many throughout history, when they search after truth automatically end up in Hinduism, since, Hinduism is man’s everlasting search after truth.

Science is also an interesting place to look because in many ways it sets out to define the nature of things. In terms of subatomic and universal science, what we call has modern science is still playing catch up with the scientific knowledge that has been available in India for thousands of years.

“You know what terrible things believers are capable of. All the conflict on the planet, though some would like to project it as good versus evil, is essentially one man’s belief versus another man’s belief. The moment you believe something, no matter what it is, you become blind to everything else. For belief systems to work, you need a flock. If you apply your own intelligence and think for yourself, your belief will collapse. The nature of seeking is individual. Every individual has to seek within himself or herself.” ~ Sadhguru

In contrast, what people call as Hinduism is better known as Sanatana Dharma, a system of living in which actual knowledge takes precedent over beliefs.

The Hindus have known for many millennia that this world is dualistic or to put it more simply, every coin has two sides. This has shaped the People’s existence and made life and eternal celebration and a dance of joy which is in stark contrast to the modern seriousness and absence of joy.

The Western world by and large is only concerned with scientific truths or understandings that can be commercialised for profit and real knowledge into the nature of life has no value unless it can be commercialised in some way. This in part is what has given rise to the modern slavery and what many see as a blind march towards doomsday.

All the countries in the world and of all the ideologies, only the ideas represented within Hinduism and its offshoot Buddhism are valid when it comes to appreciating the nature of existence. It is true that there are other cultures in the Americas, Africa and Asia that share these Hindu understandings. No one is completely sure how this knowledge was spread around the world: some think that it occurred independently and others think that Hindu sailors were travelling the globe more than 10,000 years ago.

For most Westerners, the access to truth is limited and Hindu knowledge has been so derided by those intoxicated by blind beliefs. However Hindu knowledge has been spreading around the world where it has found fertile ground in those who contemplate the nature of existence.

Do animals and plants have consciousness?
Are electrons alive?
Thich Nhat Hanh in dialogue with University of
Virginia Astrophysicist Dr. Trinh Xuan Thuan.

The Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh explains the scientific and mystic views very succinctly in this video.

Through listening to this video you may better understand that there are only two directions in life, one is inward and the other is outward. In a metaphysical sense what is inside is only a reflection of what is outside and because modern world view was only external without any regard for the internal, life is corrupted.

The external world is certainly real and needed, but our internal world is by far the richer of the two, and again this is ancient Hindu knowledge asserting that the real truth of existence lies in looking inwards.

Why do Hindu’s never try to convert anyone to Hinduism?

A Hindu knows that everyone will finally end up in Hinduism, the minute they search after truth.
A flower never goes after bees as millions of bees will come to a flower without any invitation or coaxing and similarly, Hinduism does not need any advertisement or marketing.
