Gayatri Mantra

The power of now

shiva-shivaniThe Gayatri mantra is fast becoming one of the most popular mantras in use today as it seems that never before has the world seen such desperate times. Like so many before us, people today are looking to Eastern Wisdom to help resolve life’s problems.

The Gayatri Devi is known as the Mother of the Vedas, the source of Divine Wisdom. As well as having a calming influence, it also helps to harmonise the energies of body and mind.

But more importantly the Gayatri mantra stimulates the intellect because regardless of what situation we find ourselves in, we need our intellect or mind to be in tiptop condition, or functioning as it was designed.

We live in an age of individualism were an irrational greed for wealth and power dominates political life and we need intelligent solutions. Mantra is an aspect of yoga and one of the great tools that we can employ to enrich our lives and deepen our understanding. It is only through yoga and yogic activities like mantra that we can stabilise our psyche, heal our bodies and create a new and more just society.

Science Of Gayatri Mantra

The general meaning of the Gayatri is:

We meditate upon the spiritual effulgence of that adorable supreme divine reality.
Who is the source of the physical, the astral and the heavenly spheres of existence.
May that supreme divine being enlighten our intellect, so that we may realise the supreme truth.

We meditate on the glory of the Creator who has created the Universe;
Who is worthy of Worship, who is the embodiment of Knowledge and Light;
Who is the remover of all Sin and Ignorance,
May our Intellect be Enlightened.
